| Mr. McPherson has a deep understanding of energy technologies spanning over 25 years in the field. Over the years, Mr. McPherson has interviewed over 1,000 new technology proponents. He designed, set up and ran the British Columbia Innovation Office for the Province of British Columbia guiding innovators through a structured business planning process and helping arrange first stage financing for over 200 small technology ventures. The Innovation Office was the primary funnel into the Discovery Foundation's technology business incubators and venture fund, which Mr. McPherson also helped establish and run. He remains at the cutting edge of technology business development. He prepared the National Research Council's Strategic Plan for Fuel Cells and Hydrogen (2002), organized the first Globe Conference (Global Opportunities for Business in the Environment) in 1990 for 30 countries and 4,000 delegates. He arranged the first Angel Investors Forum in BC in 1984, and the first Awards for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Canada. Mr. McPherson carried out ground-breaking studies on the potential of British Columbia technology firms to participate in the Canadian, US and European space programs. Mr. McPherson is Senior Advisor to the Greater Vancouver Gateway Council on its 2030 vision for a sustainable international transportation system. |
